YOU WANTED IT AND YOU’RE GETTING IT – A 2ND SHOW HAS BEEN ADDED!
The offspring of legends Bob Marley and Aston Barrett, these two princely inheritors of reggae – power duo Julian Marley and Aston Barrett Jr. – join forces to return reggae to its acoustic roots. The sound is a culmination of a life-long friendship and musical collaboration between the two.
Aston Barrett Jr. started working with the renowned Julian at the age of 14 while still in the eighth grade. Seeing an emerging talent, Julian quickly took him under his wing, inviting him to his house and exposing him to the many seminal guitar books, and to the family’s rich collection of early-reggae 60s recordings of his father.
Julian Marley, son of the iconic Bob Marley and x2 Grammy nominated musician/producer is a true and authentic representation of Rasta. A world renowned artist and devoted Rastafarian. Julian conveys his message of legalization, freedom, and love through his humanitarian efforts, music and JuJu Royal brand.
An idea born out of a phone call from friend and fellow musician Jaime Hinckson, this rare collaboration of three of reggae’s most prominent artists, is a richly layered tapestry of both the genre’s early rhythmic wisdom, and the newer cadences of a younger generation taking reggae’s divine message out to the world.
About Lance-O (DJ and Emcee)
Lance-O was introduced to Peter Tosh in 1974 and it was also his introduction to reggae music. Fast forward to 1984 while Lance-O was attending UNC-Wilmington he started a college radio station WLOZ that he programmed for 3 yrs and was on-air for 4 yrs in all. In 1990, he returned to South Florida to start working at Reggae Report magazine that gave him an on air slot on WAVS 1170 am. Lance-O took Saturday night radio to another level with cutting edge programming, music and personality to garnish top 5 ratings in the market with only 500 watts.
Lance-O Pic for Landing PageDuring his tenure at WAVS he started Kulcha Shok Muzik, Inc and syndicated a reggae entertainment program called ‘Reggae Vibes’ on 120 terrestrial radio stations and won best radio personality of the year in 1998. This helped him land at Power 96 where he was already breaking records for years. That in turn opened the door for him to host their reggae program from 2005-08 and assist in programming reggae into rotation on Power 96. Shortly there after he ventured into producing his own popular TV program called ‘Island Hoppers.,’ which still airs on Teleamerica. All along he’s been a dj, mc, host, voice talent and an avid promoter of Reggae music. Loves to travel, surf, organic food, his family and especially his son BODHI TOSH.

Old School Square, T Presents and House of Parnes present an evening with Keller Williams!
Virginian, Keller Williams, released his first album in 1994, FREEK, and has since given each of his albums a single syllable title: BUZZ, SPUN, BREATHE, LOOP, LAUGH, HOME, DANCE, STAGE, GRASS, DREAM, TWELVE, LIVE, ODD, THIEF, KIDS, BASS, PICK, FUNK, VAPE, SYNC, RAW, SANS, ADD, SPEED and CELL. Each title serves as a concise summation of the concept guiding each project. Keller’s albums reflect his pursuit to create music that sounds like nothing else. Un-beholden to conventionalism, he seamlessly crosses genre boundaries. The end product is music that encompasses rock, jazz, funk and bluegrass, and always keeps the audience on their feet. Keller built his reputation initially on his engaging live performances, no two of which are ever alike. For most of his career he has performed solo. His stage shows are rooted around Keller singing his compositions and choice cover songs, while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar, bass, guitar synthesizer and drum samples; a technique called live phrase sampling or “looping”. The end result often leans toward a hybrid of alternative folk and groovy electronica, a genre Keller jokingly calls “acoustic dance music” or ADM.” Keller’s constant evolution has led to numerous band projects as well; Keller & The Keels, Grateful Grass, KWahtro, Keller and the Travelin’ McCourys, Grateful Gospel and More Than A Little to name a few. Keller can be found playing clubs and festivals around the U.S. with these projects throughout the year.

Event Details
Old School Square, T. Presents, and House of Parnes presents an evening with Grammy Award-Winning guitarist, Al Di Meola in An Evening of Questions & Answers & Music!
Al Di Meola’s ongoing fascination with complex rhythmic syncopation combined with provocative lyrical melodies and sophisticated harmony has been at the heart of his music throughout a celebrated career that has spanned four decades and earned him critical accolades, three gold albums and more than six million in record sales worldwide. A bona fide guitar hero, perennial poll-winner, and prolific composer, he has amassed over 20 albums as a leader while collaborating on a dozen or so others with the likes of the fusion supergroup Return to Forever (with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White), the celebrated acoustic Guitar Trio featuring fellow virtuosos John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia, and the Rite of Strings trio with bassist Clarke and violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. And while his dazzling technique on both acoustic and electric guitars has afforded him regal status among the hordes of fretboard fanatics who regularly flock to his concerts, the depth of Di Meola’s writing along with the soulfulness and the inherent lyricism of his guitaristic expression have won him legions of fans worldwide beyond the guitar aficionado set.
A pioneer of blending world music and jazz, going back to early Latin-tinged fusion outings like 1976’s Land of the Midnight Sun, 1977’s Elegant Gypsy and 1978’s Casino, the guitar great continues to explore the rich influence of flamenco, tango, Middle Eastern, Brazilian and African music with his World Sinfonia, an ambitious pan-global group that he formed in 1991. Their exhilarating world music fusion has been documented on such releases as 2000’s The Grande Passion (featuring the Toronto Symphony Orchestra), 2007’s Live in London, 2011’s Pursuit of Radical Rhapsody and the stunning 2012 DVD, Morocco Fantasia (recorded at the Mawazine Festival in Rabat, Morocco and featuring special guests Said Chraibi on oud, Abdellah Meri on violin and Tari Ben Ali on percussion).
Growing up in Bergenfield, NJ with the music of Elvis Presley, The Ventures and The Beatles, Di Meola naturally gravitated to guitar as a youngster and by his early teens was already an accomplished player. Attaining such impressive skills at such a young age didn’t come easy for Al, but rather was the result of focused dedication and intensive periods of woodshedding between his junior and senior years in high school. “I used to practice the guitar eight to ten hours a day,” he told Down Beat. “And I was trying to find myself or find the kind of music that suited where I was going with the guitar.” His earliest role models in jazz included guitarists Tal Farlow and Kenny Burrell. But when he discovered Larry Coryell, whom Al would later dub “The Godfather of Fusion,” he was taken with the guitarist’s unprecedented blending of jazz, blues and rock into one seamless vocabulary on the instrument. “I used to ride the bus from New Jersey to see him at little clubs in Greenwich Village,” he recalls. “Wherever he was playing, I’d be there.” In 1972, Al enrolled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and by the second semester there began playing in a fusion quartet led by keyboardist Barry Miles. When a gig tape of that band was later passed on to Chick Corea by a friend of Al’s in 1974, the 19-year-old guitarist was tapped to join Corea’s fusion supergroup Return to Forever as a replacement for guitarist Bill Connors. After three landmark recordings with Return to Forever — 1974’s Where Have I Known You Before, 1975’s Grammy Award winning No Mystery and 1976’s Romantic Warrior — the group disbanded and Al subsequently started up his career as a solo artist. His 1976 debut as a leader, Land of the Midnight Sun, was a blazing showcase of his signature chops and Latintinged compositions that featured a stellar cast including drummers Steve Gadd and Lenny White, bassist Anthony Jackson and Jaco Pastorius, keyboardists Jan Hammer, Barry Miles and Chick Corea and percussionist Mingo Lewis. Over the course of six more albums with Columbia Records – Elegant Gypsy, Casino, Splendido Hotel, Electric Rendezvous, Tour De Force and Scenario – Al established himself as an influential force in contemporary music. 1980 marked the triumph of the acoustic guitar trio with Paco De Lucia and John McLaughlin. Their debut recording on Columbia Records, Friday Night in San Francisco, became a landmark recording that surpassed the four million mark in sales. The following year, 1981, Di Meola was inducted into Guitar Player’s Gallery of Greats after five consecutive wins as Best Jazz Guitarist in the magazine’s Readers Poll and winning best album and acoustic guitarist for a total of a record eleven wins. The three virtuosos in the trio toured together from 1980 through 1983, releasing the studio album Passion, Grace & Fire in 1982. In 1995, they reunited for a third recording, Guitar Trio, follow by another triumphant world tour. In early 1996, Di Meola formed a new trio with the violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and RTF bandmate Stanley Clarke called The Rite of Strings. Their self-titled debut was released in 1995. Di Meola subsequently recorded with the likes of opera superstar Luciano Pavarotti, pop stars Paul Simon, classical guitarist Manuel Barrueco, and Italian pop star Pino Daniele. Over the course of his career, he has also worked and recorded with Phil Collins, Carlos Santana, Steve Winwood, Wayne Shorter, Tony Williams, Herbie Hancock, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Milton Naciemento, Egberto Gismonti, Stevie Wonder, Les Paul, Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, Frank Zappa and Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
Di Meola’s 2013 release All Your Life was an acoustic tour de force that had him revisiting the music of a seminal influence – The Beatles. “I really credit the Beatles for the reason why I play guitar,” he says. “That was a major catalyst for me to want to learn music, so their impact was pretty strong.” A virtual one-man show of virtuosity, it features the guitar great interpreting 14 familiar Beatles tunes in the stripped-down setting of strictly acoustic guitar.
In 2015 he released Elysium, which finds the guitar great blending the lush tones of his nylon string Conde Hermanos acoustic prototype model and a ’71 Les Paul electric (his Return to Forever and Elegant Gypsy axe) in a collection of songs that are at once invigorating and alluring. “It represents a new composition phase for me, whereby the writing became, in a sense, my therapy during a challenging personal transition in my life,” he said. In the same year he was honored as the 22nd recipient of the Montreal Jazz Festival’s Miles Davis Award, created in 1994 to honor a great international jazz musician for the entire body of his or her work and for that musician’s influence in regenerating the jazz idiom.
2018 marked a new era for Al Di Meola: His first of six signed projects with German record label ear music, “OPUS” was released in March. The Grammy award winning virtuoso says: “With Opus I wanted to further my compositional skills as I think that the evolution of this part of my persona has labelled me more composer/guitarist than guitarist/composer. For the first time in my life, I have written music being happy, I’m in a wonderful relationship with my wife, I have a baby girl and a beautiful family that inspires me every day. I believe it shows in the music.” In July 2018 Di Meola received the Honorary Doctorate Degree of Music of his former alma mater Berklee School of Music.
A retrospective of Al Di Meola’s nearly 50 year acclaimed career is expressed through his latest Ear Music release of March 2020 “ACROSS THE UNIVERSE” with his virtuosic arrangements and creative interpretations of 14 Beatles songs with lightning speed electric guitar orchestrations balanced with lavish acoustic arrangements.

Old School Square presents an evening with The Swon Brothers!
The Swon Brothers gained national notoriety as finalists on NBC’s “The Voice,” and released their major-label debut, THE SWON BROTHERS, the following year, putting their stamp on the 11-song collection by co-producing with award-winning producer Mark Bright (Carrie Underwood). The album’s first single “Later On” was the duo’s first Top 15 HIT.
Their brand new single answers a question that the brothers are often asked…. what it’s like to work with your brother? They decided to write a song about it. “Travelin’ On,” written by Zach Swon, Colton Swon, Jonathan Dean and Stephen Hunley describes the brothers’ relationship, both on and off the stage. The trials of sometimes not seeing eye-to-eye tempered by the steadfast bond that they have as best friends that keeps them focused on family and career, and moving forward, “traveling on,” metaphorically and literally. The song features vocals and guitar from legendary MCA Nashville recording artist, Vince Gill.
Zach and Colton have received CMA and ACM Award nominations for “Vocal Duo of the Year,” as well as a CMT Music Award nomination for “Duo Video of the Year.” The brothers joined Brad Paisley on his Country Nation World Tour and Carrie Underwood on her Storyteller Tour, and constantly tour on their own, treating their loyal fans to “Swoncerts” everywhere.
The brothers have two successful independent EP releases, TIMELESS (#2 iTunes/#19 Billboard debut) and PRETTY COOL SCARS, under their belt, as well as their self-penned single “What Ever Happened” (A Rolling Stone Country Top 10 Weekly Song) a co-written single “Midnight Lovers,” an anthem to young forbidden love, and most recently “This Town,” penned by Zach and Colton and is an ode to “Everytown USA.”
Honored with the Rising Star award by the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2013 and inducted into the Rhythm and Routes Oklahoma Music Trail in July of 2017, the Muskogee, OK natives have been charming fans with their incredible sibling harmonies and fun-loving personalities since childhood. The brothers’ extreme loyal following, “The Swontourage” continue to fortify the duo’s healthy social media platforms with daily engagement as well as live show attendance.

Old School Square presents an evening with Matt Stell on the “Everywhere But Home Tour,” supported by Teddy Robb!
After playing college basketball for Drury University for four years, breakthrough country artist, Matt Stell stood at a crossroads. One road led to Cambridge, MA where Stell was accepted into Harvard University’s Extension School Pre-Med program. The other road pointed toward Nashville and a career in country music. Stell made the choice to follow his dreams of writing and performing.
The 6’7″ Center Ridge, Arkansas native and self-taught vocalist and guitar-player made the move to Music City in 2014, landing a publishing deal with Wide Open Music and a record deal with RECORDS Nashville/Artista Nashville.
In 2019 a love song catapulted Stell into country music success via his massive hit “Prayed for You,” a life-changer of a song that spent two weeks at the number one spot. As the only debut single to top Billboard’s Country Airplay chart in 2019, and one of NSAI’s “10 Songs We Wish We’d Written,” the hit has gone on to rack up some impressive stats with over 270 million streams, his first RIAA Platinum certification and more than 20 million views of its official music video to date. Soon after, Stell garnered his 2nd consecutive, Gold-certified #1 single, with “Everywhere But On.”
With “That Ain’t Me No More” delivering Matt’s first new music since October’s Better Than That EP, the Arkansas native is one of only seven debut country artists in the last five years to have their first two singles top the charts. Matt has amassed 380 Million cumulative streams to date and has certainly earned his spot as one of only five performers selected to Country Radio Seminar’s 2021 New Faces of Country Music class.Thursday, April 22nd, 2021 at 8 PM. Old School Square, T. Presents, and House of Parnes present an evening with St. Paul & The Broken Bones, supported by The Ries Brothers!
St. Paul & The Broken Bones formed in 2012, releasing their debut album Half the City in 2014 and its follow up, 2016’s Sea of Noise, to much acclaim. Those strong efforts helped place them on the national scene, and the band worked hard to prove they were no mere retro-soul band—from touring the world relentlessly, including being selected to open for The Rolling Stones and headlining two nights at the Ryman Auditorium, to TV appearances including The Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Conan, Austin City Limits two appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, one being the very first episode.
Janeway’s fearless showmanship, thoughtful lyrics, and dedication to his performance soon became the band’s calling card, and paired with the inventive and skillful direction of co-band leader Jesse Phillips as well as a full eight-man roster comprised of some of the best young instrumentalists in the South, they soon became a must-see event. (In addition to Janeway on lead vocals and Phillips on bass and guitar, the lineup is rounded out by Browan Lollar (guitars), Andrew Lee (drums), Al Gamble (keyboards), Allen Branstetter (trumpet), Chad Fisher (trombone) and Amari Ansari (saxophone), who replaced Jason Mingledorff following the album’s recording).
Over time, Janeway has learned the art of balancing expectations and how to reconcile his past with his future, just as his band have learned how to overcome their perception by pushing against its ceiling. In embracing those things he cannot change, he has forged ahead as an artist and as a man. And with his band’s new album, Young Sick Camellia, Janeway has created a space for St. Paul & The Broken Bones to rival any forward-thinking band making music today, based on a concept all-too familiar to him: family, and how we love them despite our differences.
ABOUT THE RIES BROTHERS
