A profound evening with dynamic entrepreneur Efrem “Skip” Zimbalist III, as he shares intimate moments and personal stories growing up within a remarkable family. His grandfather, Efrem Zimbalist Sr., was one of the world’s greatest violinists. His paternal grandmother, Alma Gluck, was the first classical musician to sell one million records. His father, Efrem Zimbalist Jr., was a Hollywood actor known for his starring roles in the television series 77 Sunset Strip and The F.B.I.; and his half-sister, Stephanie Zimbalist, is an actress best known for her role as Laura Holt in the television series Remington Steele. Skip will also share personal experiences from his time in the Army during the Vietnam War, his educational career at Harvard and copious professional accomplishments.

Efrem Zimbalist III is the Founder and Chairman of Active Interest Media (AIM), a company he formed in 2003 . AIM is best known for producing large-scale boat shows, including the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, The Miami Yacht Show, and the Palm Beach International Boat Show. This division was recently sold to a British event company. AIM has leading positions in rodeos and horse shows; skiing, hiking and mountain climbing; sailing and long-distance cruising; and a number of less strenuous areas such as yoga, woodworking, and gardening.
Previously, Mr. Zimbalist was Chief Financial Officer of Times Mirror a Fortune 500 company. It operated newspapers, professional publications, and broadcast and cable television networks. Through its Times Mirror Magazines subsidiary, where Mr. Zimbalist also served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, the company was a leader in sports publishing.
Prior to joining Times Mirror, Mr. Zimbalist served as chairman and chief executive officer of Correia., a family-owned business and served five years at the management consulting firm of McKinsey and Co. in Los Angeles.
Mr. Zimbalist served for two years as an officer in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Corp, including one year in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Harvard College and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
Mr. Zimbalist serves or has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Robert Louis Stevenson School (Pebble Beach, CA), Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Curtis Institute of Music (Philadelphia PA), Vice Chairman of the MPA-The Association of Magazine Media (New York), as a member of the Carnegie Hall Corporate Fund Board (New York, NY) and the Leadership Board of Lincoln Center (New York, NY), the House Ear Institute (Los Angeles), the Colorado Festival of World Theatre (Colorado Springs, CO), as Chairman of The Board of Directors of Active Interest Media (El Segundo, CA), and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Summit Media (New York, NY).
Mr. Zimbalist lives in Delray Beach and is married to Paula DeVocht Zimbalist, and has 4 children and four grandchildren.
