INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED – ACRYLICS
Who says abstract expressionism is only about applying paint to a flat canvas? In this class, guided by the artistic styles of famous abstract expressionists –past and present – and Fran’s inimitable layering devices, using unusual mediums and applications, you will learn in demos how to “build” beyond the canvas to create your own individual work of art. At the same time, you will discover through their achievements and struggles, how these famous abstract expressionists earned their fame.
Although the emphasis is on the freedom to be creative, it is always within the context of what makes for a “successful” composition.
Each week, in the comfort of your home, you will complete one project, and then email photos of your finished piece for a group critique. In between, you will have access to Fran’s help if you need it.
This is an interactive class where students share opinions and ideas that support each other’s artistic growth.
Prerequisite: knowledge of color theory.
